Grosse Pointe Dune

A family of four in love with their neighborhood didn’t want to leave. They jumped on the chance to purchase a lakefront property with incredible views and a private beach. The experience we designed for them features outdoor spaces that make relaxed, contemporary outside living easy and inviting – a back terrace includes spaces for contemplating the sunrise with coffee yet is large enough for a tented event; a path to the beach pauses at a deck surrounded by the swish of native dune grasses. We designed a gracious, stepped lawn to allow for wide-open views to the lake from every room in the house. A bold and resilient plant palette not only restores hardy native plants to the site, but immerses the family in a strong connection to the natural rhythms of the world.
